03. Setting Up A Bing Webmaster Account

You must have an account with a Microsoft in order to connect your site to Bing Webmaster Tools.

Yoast SEO allows you to connect your website to Bing Webmaster Tools so you can track how Bing is crawling your website.

Getting Started

Go to Bing Webmaster Tools and click Get Started to make your new tools account.


Sign into one of your accounts to create your webmaster tools account.


Add your website URL and click Add.


Note: In the SEO > General settings of Yoast SEO, Bing Webmaster Tools is hyperlinked in order to help direct you to the right place to connect your website.

Add Your Sitemap

Enter the sitemap and click the button that says Add. If you’re connecting your website for the first time and don’t know anything about when your site’s traffic is the highest, just choose the default option.


Add your site's sitemap URL: www.yoursite.com/sitemap_index.xml


Obtain Your Verification Code

Get the code. You will want to use the meta tag under Option 2. Only copy the code that is in the parenthesis after content, as per the image below.


Place your Verification Code

Log in to your WordPress website. When you’re logged in, you will be in your ‘Dashboard’. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, navigate to Settings> AgentFire Settings> Header/Footer Scripts & Metas.


Inside the Header/Footer Scripts & Metas look for the field named Site Meta Tags and paste the full meta here (not just the content hash), then click on the Update button.


Verify Your Site Code

Note: Your sitemap will most likely show up as pending and will be crawled shortly. It may take a few hours to a few days.
